What other site have you used to purchase coins other than Ebay in Europe that will ship to the US? I've checked a few out but the majority of them do not ship to the US and require bank wires. Any site I should stay away from? I've heard some have bogus coin graders and fakes. Any help would be great. Thank you all! :smile
This where I sometimes buy coins: http://www.muenzauktion.com (auctions) and http://www.ma-shops.com (sister site with fixed prices). It is not a store but a platform for various vendors, and just as every US eBay seller is free to limit the geographic regions where he ships, MA vendors may or may not ship to the US. Same thing with payment options; money transfer is what many use, but others offer PayPal and credit card payments. Third party graded coins in those plastic coffins are not that common here. Polish - Sellers in Europe are little different from those in the US, there are good ones and there are bad ones. But, if you are in the US and buying from sellers in Europe there is an additional disadvantage & risk. That being that if something goes bad or you don't like the coin you get, then you have little to no recourse at all against somebody in another country. Bottom line the strategy is simple, rule #1 - don't buy from anybody, anywhere, that you don't know and trust. Unless that seller is recommended to you by somebody who you do know and trust. Now you don't know me from Adam, you probably don't know anybody on this forum. So you'd have no reason to trust any of us. And quite honestly, you'd ought to think about that. I will say this, if Christian (chrisild) told me that I could trust a particular seller, then that would be good enough for me. But then I have known Christian for over 10 years now. I guess what I am trying to say is that you are in kind of a predicament here. You're asking for advice on sellers, and that's smart. But you need to be careful about whose advice you listen to. Never forget rule #1.
