I just found a coin that is about 2 1/2 inches in Diameter. on one side stamped 50 Years Forward With Ford 1903-1953 and on the other side the heads of Henry Ford-Edsel Ford and Henry Ford II. I think it is made of Brass.
my great grandmother had recived something like this from Magnavox as service awards a silver for 15 years and a gold when she retired at 30 years. there are people who collect these, even though they are not legal tender coins.
This is known as a business anniversary token, subdivision of automobiles and related products. The Ford 50th anniversary is the best one of the major automotive manufacturers. My 1992 ref. values this token at $5. For a reference, the other major manufacturers ranged from $1 to $5, but some of the old smaller manufacturers were valued at $10 to $20. Usually these items were handed out as freebies to the public.
