I picked these up because I couldn't resist. They're not real banknotes, but really nice artwork. If anyone knows anything about them I'd appreciate hearing!

I like them. Great theme. Are they possibly sample notes of some kind? Do you know what the 'denomination' is "t."

I really know nothing about them, Krispy, sorry. The are not printed on banknote paper, and are single-sided. I'm thinking they are not from any official bank-related entity, but are a "fantasy" designed and printed for some music event or by a musicologist :)

I wonder if these might not be some form of Regional Currency from Europe. The Germans use a lot of it and have some beautiful and very contemporary artistic designs for them.

    You're a card, Krispy, a real card!

Interesting thought on the German or other European notes. I got them from France....

Very cool notes Dave M! Right away they reminded me of the Swedish note featuing Jenny Lind. THere's even hidden music in the UV image.

That's very neat, Dave. I hadn't seen that note before. The UV is very cool!

Actually what struck me about the four notes was that they reminded me of the wonderful bird test notes on your site. Just the colors, or the simplicity of them. Those are very cool birds... gee I wish we could see them here :D

Well, I guess since birds are one of the best musicians around, why not?

I doubt it; looks like a series of fantasy issues to me. Also, regional "money" seems to be popular primarily among collectors. I have never used any, in the sense of means of payment, here in Germany. The last series of DM notes showed Clara Schumann though:

@ Dave L Where are the bird themed 'notes' from? Any background on those. Could they be from an Asian country? The crane looks to have a sort of Chinese, Thai or Vietnamese type of mountain scene in the background. All of the colors are very warm and vibrant, very nice.

And thank you Christian for the info on Regionals as well as for sharing the Schumann note in this thread.

rChristian, thanks for the Schumann images. I think the reverse is a particularly creative way to incorporate the Eurion images!

They are "Test Notes" made specificaly for the testing of automated teller machines, Money Counters, Printing Processes, etc. This particular series is from a company called Arcatech Systems. I'd seen these on a site a few times and I thought, well, for about $1 each why not? I have a couple series of these. I'm not too much into them, but there are some out there that are simply stunning in their designs and quality - though some suffer from 'corporatitis' and lack any semblance of inspiration or innovation.

This set shows just how nice a set of notes can be instead of the boring styles of many newer isssues which look like they were made in PhotoShop with a very limited color scheme.

Figured I would resurrect this old thread since I just bought a 1982 Polish 5000 Zlotych Note featuring Fryderyk Chopin on the obverse and a section of sheet music to one of his Polonaises on the reverse. I am giving it as a thank you gift to my cousin who bought me 6 different tickets to the Philadelphia Orchestra for my birthday this year.
