I'd call that a die break, Nice! Edit: I see the lines in between the W E and T R. Those lines do not match up?
The line between the WE at the top is something I see all the time on these and I don't feel it is part of the gouge as it does not line up. It does seem to extend into the circle of the R but it doesn't have that jaggedness of a crack. It looks too round, smooth and wide to be a crack to me. Either way it is not the DDO I was looking for but still something neat and a reason to play with photographing a coin. Thanks for the comments guys!
