Thanks @Mat . I appreciate it. You have a nice collection of them.

This is all I have now, but 2017 will be the Year of Caracalla for me. Incidentally, that's the 1,800th anniversary of his death. I will buy other types of coins of course, but I will pay more attention to acquiring more Caracalla denarii. I just love the guy.

Anyway, these are all I have so far (not nearly enough):

You know @Mat, when I saw the title 'For Sallent: Caracalla' I assumed for a few brief moments that you were getting me a Caracalla for my birthday. Don't get me wrong, I think this thread was a very nice gesture, and I really enjoy seeing all these Caracalla coins, but hey...one can dream. Right?

Starting September I'm going to be good and get on the wagon again. After all, the FUN show is in January, and I want to make sure I can bring enough money to make it worthwhile and fun. No point in going if I don't have enough cash for a little ancient coin spending spree. I may pick a 2-3 cheapies from JA before FUN, but other than that, I have to be very good.

But we are still in August, so I can be bad. So far it's been Volusian and S. Severus. I'm hoping by next week to have added a few Islamic coins and maybe finish the month with another RR denarii

My favorite so far. Definitely want one. What a lovely couple Plautilla and Caracalla made...until her father got busted plotting against Caracalla.

And, as you go, why not getting both Caracalla and Plautilla with the same reverse ?

Doing a portrait series of Caracalla in Denari is one of my side projects. Currently on the wagon myself for various financial reasons, but have a little saved up for the NCNA show in September. Probably will focus on medievals, but who knows? Maybe another Caracalla will strike me...
