    Not bad, eh?

By the couch in the hotel lounge, at work. I turned it in because there's the tiniest chance they could identify the dropper in the security camera footage.

If not, it's cha-ching for me, maybe! :D

Update: wait, it gets even better. Scroll down for the sequel!

It is mine. The dropper is the inkwell for my feather pen, which is also imaged on the "Bill in question.

I trust this is enough proof. I have identified the dropper, and also my feather pen. The "Bill" is obviously mine.

I found about $10 in bills when I was a kid at my local gas station. I turned it in and they told me if no one came to claim it in a week, it was mine. I felt like I was a millionaire the next week when they gave it to me. In fact, I'm sure I was in there getting a pack of cigarettes for my grandmother. Back then she'd call and say she was sending her grandson over to get her a pack. And they'd sell them to me! I was maybe 10 years old at the time! Good memories.

Had a friend who was about 2 years older than me at the time he was about 15. He had his mother write a note for a purchase of smokes for her. I thought that was nice of him to walk all the way to the store (about a mile) to get them. Then he lit one up after leaving the store. I felt so betrayed that he and his mother tricked the owner of the store. Sorry. A little off topic. :sorry:

Security has found footage of the likely dropper of that bill. The drop itself did not get captured on camera (the guests had moved a chair into the way), but they do have footage of the guy who was sitting there on the couch. Not really clear facial features, but white male with a certain haircut, maybe 30-40-ish, certain clothing. Enough to confirm him if he thinks to speak up about it.

What the Security supervisor did not know is whether or not I’m entitled to the money after a certain time, if Mystery Guy never comes to claim it. They recently changed the rules on unclaimed Lost & Found items so that employees who turned the stuff in are no longer entitled to the stuff if the guest never reclaims it (it gets sold). But it remains unclear whether or not that applies to actual cash.

In short, I probably won’t get to keep that C-note, regardless (I’m not holding my breath, in any event.) If I do eventually get to keep it, that would be a pleasant surprise. But even if I do not (which seems likely), I still get to know I did the right thing- and it boosts my already-solid reputation with upper management and coworkers for being honest. So it’s all good either way.

So that’s where I lost that note. What hotel do you work at? Lol Very kind of you to do so.

The person who lost it may not ask about it for a few reasons. Staying at a hotel means they are probably only in town for a few days. And they have probably been visiting and shopping at many local business places and restaurants.
When or if they realize it is missing, they might not have a clue where they lost it.

I found a $100 bill in the middle of the road through my old apartment complex about 15 years ago.
Wasn't by any car or apartment or anything, must have blown from somewhere.
    Cha-ching.

    Y’all aren’t gonna believe this.

    Ready for the sequel?

Last night, you will recall I found that $100 bill on the floor by the brown couch in the hotel lounge.

Well, tonight, after the last bar patrons left, it was $330 in a money clip! On the same couch.

Dunno what it is with these people and their cash! Anyway, this time the guy did come back to reclaim it. After he properly described the money clip, I gave it back to him.

He thanked me but didn’t act especially relieved or surprised. Know what I got as a tip? The empty beer bottles and trash they left behind, that’s what.

Awesome! I bet he was relieved to see that money again. Did he offer you anything? A $20, a Thank You or even a smile or handshake perhaps. ;)

Just an average “thank you”, and no tip but the empty beer bottles and trash they left behind.

I did at least get a $20 tip from Niles the bartender, for the after-hours cleanup. Niles is a good guy.

At least you were rewarded another way. See? I would have given you a $20. That's just me. $25 if you were a cute gal. LOL. ;)

It was probably the same guy. He probably left the clipped money because he could "describe" it. He didn't tip because he figured you already got $100. He was probably hoping you would ask if he lost $100 recently.

People are strange. They imagine all kinds of scenarios. In his mind, it had all been played out. It came down to if you mentioned finding other money recently or not.

I was driving down the road and watched a burst of cash blow off an oncoming car. I pulled over and collected the cash, various credit cards and insurance cards…photos…basic wallet stuff. Guy never came back. But I noticed a police SUV nearby -handed over a wad of cash, wallet and cards. Cop was stunned…wasn’t sure if he should take it since the blowoff happened just across the bridge to the neighboring town. I reminded him the guy was headed towards his town. So, he took it. Almost $500.

I know a cop in that town so I followed up. Everything got back to that person. I imagine that most folks would be pleased and surprised. Even drunk litterbugs.
