I know you've guys all seen these... what I would call "SCAMS" and I've always gotten a kick at checking them out though just so I can keep up to date with the market and FleeBay. However I decided to give in... because it's not a lot of money and it could be fun, defiantly not going to hurt anything. But I still set some parameters so I didn't just go buy nothing but junk. 1- The seller must have 100% positive feedback 2- The seller can not sell only these lots Well I finally found a seller like this, and I purchased 2 lots, 1 for $25 and 1 for $30. 1 Guaranteed 20 coins with silver and the other Guaranteed like 10 coins 1 graded by NCG or PCGS. Stay tuned and I'll post pictures when they arrive
I bought a 2015 silver proof quarter set from one of those guys the other day. Cheaper than any place else I could find on search engines.
You are guaranteed, silver, 100 year old, pre 1964, and slabbed coins. So no matter what I get, I think it will be worth it. But we shall see
Well guys I only ended up winning 1 lot. Some guy sniped me at the last second. Wasent expecting that because nobody bids on these lol. But I'm thankful for that because I mostly got junk. It was to be expected. But hey now you now, even good sellers sell junk haha
It looks really nice, that's the only one I enjoyed. Sorry can't get pics right now just went home to check my mail and snap a few pics before heading back to work
If you read the original post I knew I was most likely goingto get junk. I didn't learn anything new. I just wanted to try it from a reputable seller
Most experienced collectors would never touch these "deals" on Ebay. These sellers prey on novice collectors who are gullible enough to fall for these scams.
They are some pretty enticing pictures that they have on their auctions. I've always wondered myself too that maybe I would get a slabbed Gold coin. But I also know reality that someone selling from a batch is going to cherry pick that stuff and sell it separately.
a reputable scam artist is still a scam artist. if you want magic beans, i have some for sale, along with powdered water.
that, and the occasional experienced collector whose curious><. who doesn't like beating the cheating card player, especially when he's dealin'.
One should always remember that feedback is not always a solid indicator of being "reputable", and is evidenced by the fact that some of the biggest and most offensive dreck peddlers on the bay also happen to have stellar feedback. Likewise, there are excellent, trustworthy, and reputable sellers on said venue with less than 100% due to buyer pettiness. As an example: a member here destroyed the feedback of a perfectly fine and honest seller, not because they (the seller) had done anything wrong, but because they refused to play the buyer's games (agreeing to buy when he knew he couldn't pay for weeks) or reward them with a substantially discounted price after the fact. While not a perfect solution, reading between the lines is often the best way to get a "feel" for a seller and what to expect when/if dealing with them.
