went to a flea market today and picked up a few things. This was actually the first time I went more for business than anything, but still picked up a few things for myself. I picked up 12 dateless buffs, one has an S mintmark and another has a D, the guy didn't charge me anything for them since I am a good customer. Also picked up a 1918-D Walker in VG, and last but not least, picked up a 32-D quarter in AG! First key I have ever purchased. I am going to resell it, but I'll hold it for a little bit to atleast say I had it. That is so far the most I have ever spent on a coin, until I get my 09 S. Let you guys know when I get it. Well, that was my day, and my purchases, tell me what you think! Phoenix
Sure, I paid $90. I'd like to make a bit of a profit on it though, cuz I'm saving up for some other items. But I bought it because I hoped to get a good price to sell it for, and two, I wanted to be able to say I owened one. Might sound silly to some of you, but that is the truth, and unfortunatly buying and selling is really the only way I can make money at the time. But I paid $90, which I don't think was too bad, hope to make something though possibly off of it. Thanks for the interest! Pheonix
There was a Coin World add for a 1932 D Washington quarter in AG condition for $99.00. So you did fine. Lou
Good deal on that quarter! While I don't like "investing" in coins I will say this. In the past 2 years I have bought around 5 1932-D and S quarters and so far I've never lost money on any of them. Speedy
Thanks guys. Yeah, I know what you mean Victor, a lot of people are out there to get you, that's why I try to be fair with my coins that I sell where both parties make out okay. But I hate price gougers. Sweet, thanks for the info man! Thanks! Thanks! I don't really like to either, but it is the real only way for someone my age to make some money unfortunatly. Other than shoveling walks in Winter, but gotta have snow for that. Thanks for the tip man! Phoenix
I like flea markets and antique shops for the occasional bargain. I'm also a person who doesn't care about uncirculated coins, and I think your purchase of the quarter was smart on your part.
Victor: Always ask what they need to get for the coin. Worst case: They say, the listed price is it. But, ya never know unless you ask.
Yeah, there is a dealer here that goes to the magazines with prices in them, and doesn't even mark any prices on his coins. And more than half the time in my opinion the prices in the price guide are about 20 percent too high. He's a nice dealer, but I like to atleast see a price on the coin and maybe make a deal sometimes, but that is just me. Phoenix
Some things you forgot to mention. For example your purchases did not have to include postage, handling, insurances and the possiblility of being lost in the mail or receiving a bogus coin. Then you didn't have to argue, fight, threaten some unknown person on the internet. You got some exercise walking around, met people, had fun, saw what you were purchasing. So when you throw in all that, you did fantatically. I love flea markets and so far after well over 60 years of coin collecting, the best, most fantastic, greatest deals on coins have always been from a flea market.
looks like you got some neat buys!:thumb: you did really good on the quarter. i'd save that for a couple years and then sell it. i imagine the value will go up on it after the state quarters are finished being minted.
