Five Dollar Note, 1963 Red Seal

Mt partner received this in change today and brought it back to ask me if there is any value. I am loaded with coin knowledge but very little bill knowledge. Is this a desirable bill?

Yes, red and blue seals are keepers.

 

I don't know how much value it has. But I would keep it.

 

They are seldom seen in circulation put popular with collectors. It was the last of the $5 Legal Tenders. It’s probably worth about $10 retail. I would slip it into a currency sleeve for protection.

 

Thanks everyone! I gave him ten bucks. He tried to give me five of it back, but I persevered. It will go in a sleeve and get tucked away in my safe.
