I'd like any info you have to offer on these coins which contain some kind of error They are Irish 10p coins with a Salmon on one side and the Harp and date on reverse. I’ve attached scanned images of the coins alongside “normal” coins as a comparison. Pict 1 + 1a: The 10p on the right seems to have an excess or thickening of metal which runs along the fish’s underbelly to the tip of its tail. The salmon is meant to have two regular fins but as well as this excess metal it looks like the fish has grown smaller fins. This is more apparent in real life looking at the coin rather than looking at the attached scanned images. The scans seem a bit flat looking. Pict 2 + 2a: A different 10p coin this time. On the reverse at the base of the harp there is a blob of excess metal. I collected these coins because I noticed they didn’t look quite perfect and so had a bit of character! Then the Euro coins came along in 2002 ... I'm interested to know what would have caused these "errors" and what you call these mistakes. Let me know what you think of them!
