Came across this coin on the bay and was curious what you guys thought of it. I'm not sure if the toning is artificial or if the colors are produced by some sort of lighting effect. Look at the coins in the background of the photo and you can see they almost have the same hue to them. Checked out of some of the other morgans he has been selling and they all have ended pretty cheap. What are your thoughts? Too good to be true?? http://www.ebay.com/itm/150742893995?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm570.l2736%26_nkw%3D150742893995%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1#ht_720wt_1270
It seems like it does have some toning around the rim but the lighting in that first picture seems to really add color to the coin that might not be there. I'm not claiming it's artificial because I am not that versed in spotting AT but it does seem like the lighting is having an effect. He does have 1 negative feedback for the coin being described improperly. I personally would not bid on this.
My take is the first picture is to show bag marks more than anything else. He's trying to make you grade it into MS63+ than say the coin has blue or purple toning. I would use the second and third pics as a closer representation of the toning. Plus toning is sometimes subtle enough to not show up especially with a flash. I'm also concerned that in the item specs section he has a grade of MS63+. Ebay changes policies at a drop of a hat but last I looked you couldn't put anything in the box without it asking for a cert. # and this is not slabbed it's raw so it may or may not be a MS63. Buyer beware if you can't grade. I would also be asking if he means it would grade MS63 with a + for it almost made 64 or he really doesn't know so lets say this grade or better. If you want to take a chance I wouldn't pay more than bid maybe even try for less than bid but on a sight unseen coin price because you can't say without doubt from the pics. Plus prices seem high as he has a 21-D with monster tone it's got wear around the ear and a huge fingerprint on the obverse and is asking $99 for it ouch it's AU at best probably XF. On the plus side he doesn't claim that one to be UNC.
Now this is a listing that should get reported as the seller lists the grade and as I understand it, you're not allowed to mention grade unless it's been certified by one of the TPGs.
