These don’t even look like copper cents I dont understand how they can be so clean almost uncirculated (the bottom 2; top is just a typical looking copper penny for comparison) Anything of value here? Thanks
"First time coming across any Pennie’s this old in such great condition" - 1974, 1975, 1982 - thanks for making me feel old. I have a zip-lock-bag full of those, it's called pocket change.
The ‘74 is AU58 BROWN and has been improperly cleaned. The ‘75 is damaged and a poor strike. Neither have value beyond face currently. Look at it this way: the ‘74 is 50 years old and listed worth 2 cents as a AU58BN at NumisMedia/FMV. This is its’ fair market value based on many factors including mintage, condition rarity and not improperly cleaned. 50 more years from now it might appreciate to being worth 4 cents. So the ‘74 is realistically valued at 1 cent and projected to be worth 2 cents in the year 2074…imo…Spark
Have you figured out how to look this stuff up? https://www.ngccoin.com/coin-explor...reverse-1959-2008/12978/1975-1c-ms/?des=ms-rd for example tells you that they minted 5 billion of these and the price guide doesn't even bother until it gets to MS64. "Old" doesn't mean there's any value. People saved tons of these and then eventually dump them back into circulation when they realize there's no point in keeping them.
As an ancient numismatist I snicker when someone thinks 50 years is "old". 2/3 of my collection is more than 2000 years old.
