How do I get a first day issue of the Presidential dollars? I see alot of people have them on ebay. How or where do I buy them myself? Are they special issued from the mint or pcgs? I can't see paying ebay outrageous prices to get a first day holder from pcgs. Thank Ron

http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...ctId=13972&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=16238 my oops, use this one for the Washington $. The other is for the quarter.
the washington is SOLD OUT at the mint.. if you really really REALLY want one, go pay the over priced fees on Ebay ...
from PCGS?? i didnt know they were slabbing the covers.. i know NGC is, but PCGS? i dont know about them ...
now that i think about it a bit more ... are you talking about the 'First Day Covers' issued by the mint? or are you talking about the "First Strike" slabs issued by PCGS, NGC and the rest??? The 'First Day Covers" that were issued by the mint are sold out. To my knowledge NGC is the only company 'slabbing' them. PCGS might, i just dont know if they are or not. The 'First Strike' designation issued on slabbs from PCGS, NGC and a host of other TPG's are ... well, not sure how to put it lightly... but they are only worth the value of the coin inside (and maybe take into account the assigned grade). But if you are taling about the supposed "First Strike' coin, thats a different ball of wax that is searchable on the sites search function - its been addressed alot.
its ANY coin minted within the first 30 days of release ... no matter at which point that particular coin came off the die... so they will slab a coin as first strike even if it was the last coin, or the 1 millionth coin from a particular die ...as long as it was minted in the first 30 days.
The way they get the first day slabs is to buy first day covers and send those in to be graded. As long as the first day covers are available you can do it yourself if you wish, although with the very high mintage of coins I don't think it will pay in the long run.
