First Day Coin Cover Holder

    Hi Everyone,

    I'm not sure exactly where to post this request so I figured I'd start here. I've been collecting the FDC for quarters and now presidential dollars since they've come out. I'm looking to find something to hold them. I would be removing the FDC from the white carboard like package that the US Mint sent them in.

    I've seen some holders for stamps on website from Lighthouse Publications but wasn't sure if they would work. Does anyone have any advice on holders for these FDCs? I appreciate any information you can provide.

    I think NGC now grades covers, but i'm not sure if they put them in anything to protect them. Just thought i'd pass that on in case you might consider having them graded.

    Hi AUBU2,

    Yeah I had seen NGC graded FDCCs but I don't think it would necessarily be worth it to grade the FDCCs for quarters or dollars. I've seen albums for First Day Covers related to philatelic items and was wondering if anyone had used these type of albums for the FDCCs for quarters and/or dollars.

    Coin covers should fit in FDC albums as long as they are standard size. There are lots of different FDC albums by different manufacturers.

    I'm not sure what size the envelope for a first day cover is, but many stamp sites sell sleeves for first day covers on differing envelope sizes. They are exactly like currency sleeves, so I'm not sure how much protection they will provide the coins, but at least it is something.

    Hi Everyone,

    Thanks for the information. I have the measurements of the quarter/dollar FDCCs so I will look for sleeves to hold them and then an album to hold the sleeves :eek:

    I used photo "pocket" pages made by UltraPro. I don't have the exact page 'name' handy (it's been a few years since I bought them), but they are two pocket pages (that fit in a 3-ring binder) which fit the FDCC perfectly.
