I had 4 coins which I have posted here, all were paid for before Xmas, and they arrived today. 2 from one auction and 2 from another. That is why I class them as first coins of 2024.
Depends on how you choose. Me, I date my ownership from the day payment is sent, but others, like @Bing, as you can see, choose to wait until the day it is in hand.
I'm with you, I catalogue them with the date of the Auction (this helps keep track of Provenance). However I don't post them until I receive them in case there is an issue. I'm anxious to receive these lots as they contain several really nice brockage and mint errors.
The coin arrived yesterday PHOENICIA. Sidon. Uncertain king, circa 450-425 BC. 1/32 Shekel (0,41 g, 6 mm) Obv. War galley to l., with furled triangular sail Rev. Head of Bes facing; incuse square. Betlyon 6. Elayi & Elayi 185-192. HGC 10, 218. Very Rare small coin.
Another coin that arrived yesterday. Small (weight 4.4 g), inconspicuous, cleaned, with artificial patina. In poor condition. But I'm very happy to have it. Maybe someone can guess why? What do I see in her?
I'm stumped, other than that these Antioch bronzes are cool coins in general. (I.e., of Philip I of type RPC VIII Temp. 69845 ; McAlee 104.)
