so i baught my first box of any type coin today the pennies came in a brinks sealed box in seethrew wraps im looking for wheaties and ich any thing else i should look for can you guys make a nice list so i can have it with me at the table at this point i dont care to keep pennies just because of the copper every thing besides what i keep is going in a container for my 15 month old daughter
This is how I sort a brick. Box 1: All Ds. I check for RPMs on all years. Box 2: Cherrypicker years (other than Ds) 59,60,63,68,69s,70s,71,72,73,82,73,84,88,89,,92,94,95,97,98,99,00,03,06,11 Box 3: Copper other than years mentioned Box 4: Coinstar Food
I check for RePunched Mintmarks (RPM). I forgot to add "up until 1991" on that. Correct me if im wrong CT, but I believe they stopped hand-punching the mintmarks by hand the following year, so pretty much anything that has been repunched has a premium added to the coin if you find one.
There's too much to list for a first-timer. Save anything in the 70s and under that looks new and set aside for an album. On the Wheaties expect one every six rolls. If you get over eight or nine, you got a good box. Have fun. Warning. Clinical studies have shown roll-searching is more habit-forming than heroin (and if they haven't, they should).
i usualy only search half rolls and quarters but never a box i get 2 rolls of halfs for bus and a roll of quarters for laundry every week
Very good...this answers pretty well the question I just posted in a new thread. Makes sense and will ease the labor. Thanks a lot!
