I'd like to see when everyone gets their first 2006 coin in circulation? Don't count coins received in rolls form the bank, just coins that you get in change....also note where you are from. I think it is interesting to see when this stuff starts showing up. I haven't received anything yet....
Nothing yet, buy will keep my eyes open. I live really close to Denver and usually see new stuff pretty quickly.
What do you think of one and a half hours north of NYC, is that too far from the Philly Mint to be considered close?
I wasn't asking that to exclude anybody, just wondering where the distribution of this year's coins first finds might be. I just thought it would be interesting to see where folks were seeing the 2006 coins first. I actually wasn't even thinking about the mints when I suggested that.
I hope I remember this post along about Sept. or Oct. as that is when I usually come across my first coins of the current years production. Areas where there are tourist usually show up with the coins first, it seems. Until this fall, good luck on locating the 2006's.:thumb:
I received my first 2006 coin in change a few days ago... a nice, shiny cent! I'm in Oklahoma City...
NE Florida here, I received several 2006 one cent coins from the Philadelphia mint last week via regular circulation. Still waiting for the rest of the denominations. My guess will be the "Eastward" five cent.
I received two 2006 pennies in my grocery store change yesterday (Friday 1/27). I live in Lexington, Kentucky. Jim
When I lived in the Baltimore area and Louisville, I got all the circulating denominations quite quickly. Here in rural PA, well, we'll see when something turns up. Although the bank people here are pretty good. If I want them to get something for me, if they can, they will. That was one thing I liked about Louisville. I could get both mints pretty quickly. It's far enough east to have "bleed-over" from Philadelphia, but it's part, as I understand, of the St. Louis region of the Fed, which I was told was supplied by Denver.
Man, and here I was thinking I'd see them faster, lol, of course I haven't been engaging in many cash transactions recently. At the place I work as a cashier I tend to see new coins relatively quickly, hoping to see some new stuff soon.
Finally got my first 2006 coin in circulation today, my change from Carls Jr. has a 2006 D penny in it, nearly uncirculated.
new coins Ive checked with my bank, and they expect the Nevada quarters and the 06 nickles in by mid march. I can't wait.:goofer:
Nevada Quarters and 06 nickels. I went to a BB&T bank in Easton, Maryland and they have a box of Nevada quarter rolls. I picked up a couple. Yesterday I got an '06 nickel in my change at Walmart. It is going to be tough looking at the new portrait of Jefferson...I kinda liked the old one better. He looks like an old woman now.
Wiscoinsin its amazin that we here live so far from both mints but usually see new coinage first. Found a new nickel and have seen many pennies, still waiting for that quarter though. Milwaukee, WI
