I collected coins as a kid in the late 60s -early 70s. Although I got away from it while raising a family, I resumed collecting about four years ago. Then, my main goal was to fill the Whitman binders. I got one done, the Whitman #2 Lincoln book (41 and up). I had to buy the 55S Lincoln for about 2 bucks (big money then) when they were sky-high in price. Today, I not only finished another book, but completed the Washington quarter series from 32 -64 (pic below). The best part is that I was able to do so without paying more than melt value (whatever it might have been at the time I bought the various coins) for any coin. Believe it or not, the hardest coin to find was a good 1956P. I finally had to settle for a less than optimal one. I will continue to upgrade as better coins become available but, for now, the kid in me is ecstatic.

Hey! Nice job. Congrats. I have been considering working on this set myself. I have many of the coins already. I was thinking of putting together a Dansco set proofs and all, 1932-1998.

You were actually able to get the '32-D and S coins for melt value?

Nice collection. I finished mine last year with the purchases of the 1932-D and 1932-S. I finally decided to open my wallet and buy F graded ones.

I am putting together mint state sets of all of the moderns and mercury dimes, and spend a lot of time working on varieties so I just got into the VAM madness.

"You were actually able to get the '32-D and S coins for melt value?"

Yep. In fact, i got the S one week and the D the next week.

    Great Accomplishment! Congratulations

I haven't done the classical quarters yet. I did the States with what I got in circulation. Now I am doing the ATBs because they are more better than the States, and the designs are also so much better.

Other than the One Cent Coin, I think the Quarter Dollar may be the most ubiquitous?

Congrats quarter-back! I'm working on the Dansco 1932-1998 + Proofs set and i'm down to about 20 coins left. This set is really fun to work on. Very nice pick-up on the 32s
