So I finally gave up trying to find the '55 Frankie and bought it at the garden state coin show on Sunday for 11$. All of the coins are from circulation execept that one (55) and the 48 (bought a while back).
Let me be the first to congratulate you. Looks like a great circulated set and congrats on finding all but 2 from circulation rolls. Sit back and enjoy the set and start on a new one! Congrats again.
very nice set! Were you searching rolls for them? When did you start? I love it when people collect from circulation.
Wow, It is a great thing to be able to find a complete set out of circulation. I am trying to do the same thing with Lincolns. I know I will not be able to find the keys but I am still doing two sets. One from circulation and one from buying and trading and such. How long did it take you to complete it. Congrats
So, I have the same question as mikenoodle, did you find them all in roll searching, except for those two? Did you get any in change? Congrats by the way!
fantastic accomplishment! that must really feel great. i agree with everyone here ... amazing that all but 2 came from circulation. i second the question someone else asked ... what year did you start this set and what years did you find most of the coins?
I noticed that some are showing the obverse and some are showing the reverse. Is there a reason for that? I am interested to hear if you got them roll searching. I do alot o half dollar roll searching and I've found a few Franklins but no where near a set. It is a great feeling to complete a set through roll searching. I did it with Jefferson nickels with the exception of that one hard date.
I started searching September this year (got the '62 around then). I got most of the coins from this find... http://www.cointalk.com/showpost.php?p=828271&postcount=4663 With some from before this as well. But was still missing the '55 until Sunday. I am now working on a silver Roosie set also from circulation.
Fifty, I believe he has all the mintmarked coins showing the reverse (the mintmark) ... of course if he switched to a better album like a dansco that shows both sides, he wouldn't have to do that.
That's a remarkable achievement. Congratulations. How are you doing on your silver Roosevelt searches?
So far I have 14 (diiferent) of the Roosies, but I've hit a dry spell (on dimes). If I have a chance, I'll post pictures and more info later in the week.
I have attached my current Roosie collection from circulation. I have 15 different coins, plus another 23 silver dimes found (19 Roosies, 4 Mercs). This was started about January this year, but I have hit a dry spell over the past two weeks.
Found this when replying for another thread. I am up to 39 out of 48 for the circulated Roosie collection, all from circulation.
