It looks like a fingerprint to me Ed, but wait for others to chime in before you throw it under the bus. Bruce
I like mint set toning type coins and have been folled by what I thought was a fingerprint and was not . This one looks like a fingerprint to me too I was hoping I was wrong. You cant tell from the first pic its a MS66 FBL its a bad picture.
Looks like it toned after the fingerprint to me, probably a little oil from someone's finger kept that from toning??
Nice Franklin. I like it. Yes, it has a fingerprint on the reverse but don't let it bother you. I don't think it detracts. Lance.
You have a fingerprint most definitely. It just totally peeves me when I find a fingerprint on a coin. Especially if it is a very nice coin that I am considering to purchase. I will not buy a coin that is fingerprinted. How clumsy and ignorant were the people who have handled these old coins. What were they thinking anyway? I feel that fingerprints on coins are about the most unsightly thing.
Well someone bought it so I wont have to worry about any more . It was a nice coin at a fair price but I just dont like finger prints or rim dings and could not pull the trigger. But that was a nice coin and would been a nice add for my colection. Thanks for all the advice and tips. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230632361117&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Well I got one finally got a 1958 MS66 FBL ,took me a while .I did not have one in my colection so I was happy to get it today. only 89 graded MS66 FBL 1958 by NGC so thats cool .I need to to learn to be patient in life a this is a good lesson for me. http://www.ebay.com/itm/230671606748?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Fingerprints can be tolerable or absolutely unforgivable. Here's a PCGS 65RD that is going back to PCGS today. Such a nice Lincoln, otherwise. But it doesn't deserve its assigned grade. Lance.
