So I've been getting more and more intrigued, I figured, what the ****, why not give it a shot.. So I went to the bank, grabbed a box of pennies and decided to go thru. Still trying to perfect the best method to run thru them all as I'm creating duplicate work and probably have massive inefficiency but anyway. My tactic so far was "search for wheats or anything thats out of the ordinary" .. so basically the process began as just dumping one full roll, and if they were heads, check the date, if they were tales, look for something besides the basic design (i know this probably isnt hte best method, but im still learning)

So what i found so far was:

    4 Canadian Pennies
2 Lincoln Formative Years (there might even be more, these two were just found because they were already on the tails side)
2 Lincoln Professional Years (again, same as above)
    and 7 Wheats (30d . 39 . 45d . 45 . 50 . 52s . 54d )

I'm sure it will take me another day or so to go thru all of them and many other runs to get a technique down, but i had a blast and am totally hooked. Below are pictures of it all:

Also please feel free to provide any comments, advice, critique, criticism, suggestions, etc.. I have no feelings so you can't hurt them. I'm just ready to learn and stoked about this.

(i got a penny album coming in the mail today so i can start plugging in those wheat's in there)

Like the idea of finding a mintmark on a 1930 dated cent:yes: I have sort of cut back on cent box searches - just don't have the time and when I was getting them they were backing up and my 8 year old doesn't really care for them either. Earlier this year, back in Feb I think, I did find an 1882 IHC that looked like it was shot up in a gunfight - my earliest find so far.

Very nice finds. I also search cents. My biggest find so far would be a 1970 s small date. Haven't got pics anymore but I think it brought around $30. Took that dough and bought a BU example. I love going through cents.
