Got these at the bank Saturday. I've been wanting a 1934 $10, TOO BAD, they thought it was counterfeit and marked it up with the counterfeit pen. Oh, the horror!!!! But, I got it for face value, so it will fill a hole until I can upgrade. 5 Stars are all 2003 Is the $100 note Anything special????? (sorry, my epson wouldn't scan it) Already had posted the $50 note (obtained at bank a week ago) in another thread, but just now learning photobucket so reposting it. I think Rickie said that the 50 has a little premium...
I don't know how much they are worth, I know the 1976 100 Note might not be much worth more than the face value. Neato bills though
Guide book of US paper money puts the 10 at $20 in ef-40. I would guess no premium unless an error. Not sure if there are any errors on this series though. Counterfeit pen mark will go away over time.
So did you find all the * notes in circulation? Did this require going to the bank and geting a few stacks of bills to go through?
I just asked at the bank, "Do you have any old notes? The ones with the small portraits?" I got the 10, 50 and 100 that way. Noost, are you serious? The counterfeit pen marking will fade and go away???? If so, that is awesome.....like I said, I've been looking for a 1934 $10 and to find it for face is great! It has the lighter green seal, but it is not lime green like some of them... I Guess the $100 isn't worth anything more than face, but I'll put it up for auction at my coin club meeting for $101, and see what happens....
Nice finds bobbeth87! Just walked into the bank and asked, and their they were lol i gotta try that The pen will slowly vanish, but it does take time. I might still upgrade the note if the right note and right price comes my way.
Yes, I'll probably upgrade at some point in the future, but for now, it fills my 1934 slot that I had open. And Daggarjon, welcome back.....good to see you!
I speak from experience, the pen will fade, but I still can't believe that the Federal Trade Commission has not cracked down on the false marketing claims behind those pens. They detect nothing but ignorance. I'm guessing that the 1977 $100 is worth only Face due to it's age and condition. The $50 is also probably only worth face to dealers, but I would still keep it as you won't be able to find a dealer that will sell it to you at face. The $10 is worth more than face, but again you probably won't find dealers willing to pay more than face for it since they are still considered "common". I've found that there are very few large denomination small sized bills that are worth more than face unless they are in "Crisp Uncirculated" condition or better. Even if they have a star note, if they are EX or lower, you probably won't find too many buyers willing to pay a premium, unfortunately. It's been awhile since I've seen a clembo post, but I remember him posting about bills brought into the shop he works at that are nice, old, but get passed by because the dealer can only move so many of them.
