I am big into the "unwanted" or "noncollectable" small series US bills. What I mean by this is the "small head" or even uncolored "large head" $5, $10, $20, and $50 denominations that don't carry much of a premium over face because they are circulated or not all that rare. They seem to be hard to come by because (a) true collectors are not interested in them because of their lack of a premium over face and (b) non-collectors seem to hoard them when they find specimens in change. How can I find a decent supply of these, or any of these at all, to add to my collection? I don't mind paying a little over face or even market value for them but Ebay prices are kind of ridiculous sometimes. Do banks give them out when requested? I asked my local B&M shop and he told me he just deposits them in the bank when he gets them because they "aren't worth a hoot over face."
Get in good with your bank's vault teller and they will save them for you. I have a fairly appreciable hoard of SC's LT's and older FRN's that way.
