This contest might have multiple winners, it might have none. That depends on you! I am looking for US currency, specifically notes from the San Francisco District which are bills marked with a L and the number 12. (there are also some other larger style bills and some local bills I am looking for as well) To enter the contest all you need to do is PM me a website that sells currency. I will check the website, if I find something I am going to buy... you win a prize. (it is like a finder's fee) Once I have looked through the websites I will post them here so everyone else gets a chance to look through them. I have checked many of the main websites such as ebay Heritage donckelly first city currency so those won't earn you a prize but if you pm them to me I will list them for everyone else to see. If you have a "secret" site that you don't want me to share let me know and I won't post it. Prizes will differ based on what you find me, here are five random coins I had sitting on my desk.
eric0911- Got the PM, some nice sites but not any notes I am looking for. Triad has a great selection of National currency, if I had a few thousand to spend right now I would be tempted by a few of their notes. I actually bought a small note from coastcoin earlier today, the site seems to load slowly but worked for me. The gaitherburg site is down for maitanence so I will have to check that later. williamlittcurrency.com triadcurrency.com jhcoins.com gaithersburgcoin.com coastcoin.com(sometimes dosen't work)
Thanks Krispy, I have already checked out your wonderful thread, guess I need some of your "secret websites" http://www.cointalk.com/showthread.php?t=106029&p=878999&viewfull=1#post878999 ikandiggit pm'ed me http://www.donckelly.com/ Which is a great site that I have bought from before.
In your thread you and RickeyB mentioned that you don't share all of your sources... your "secret websites"
That's right. I don't. I provided a good many though that will serve you well in your search, which is why I pointed you to 'the list' Try Denlys of Boston, Lyn Knight Auctions or TeleTrade Currency auctions since some of the others already sent you others that also appear in my list. :thumb:
I have gone through your list twice, lots of wonderful resources. Denlys is where I finally found the 1929 Chico note I had been looking for. I have found 4 that were for sale, Denly's was the best condition and the cheapest. I have also bought from Teletrade but they seem to be limited in the currency area. I will go check out Lyn Knight again.
Yes, TT is still limited in Currency offerings. They basically are lucky to have one day a week with US notes offered. Not sure why they drag their tail so much with paper when they could try to compete more with Heritage in that regard.
Finally found one I needed at Lyn Knight in the e-shop.....it was marked sold. Their auctions seem to bring in VERY strong prices, the few items I am interested in were over book price. Don't think I want to touch craigslist.
Sold! Doh! Yes, LK is steep and over book in my book too! In light of that, and something that's not really a 'secret' nor on my other list, which you can watch for future listings: bowersandmerena.com They have mostly super nice coins, but you can watch their currency listings too.
Here are some more sites I was sent, looks like one of them will be a winner (assuming they still have the bill in stock) Jim M http://www.allensinc.com/coins/ ikandiggit www.usarare.com Dionhurst www.propertyroom.com dctjr80 http://wensy.com/ mark_h http://www.tickleyourfancycurrency.com/websFORSALE.htm
