Yep--the S mintmark gives it away...if its a Kennedy with a S mintmark its a proof...some don't have the S and are still proofs...it just takes an eye...
I would suggest you buy a Red Book...as that will tell you what dates are proof and the like.
Please don't go by the prices in the book as they might be right and they might be waaaay off!

I found a '76 S one time :) It was in pretty good condition too! It confused me so I checked out a book from the library at school, and found out it was silver!

Nice find. I'm surprised that you've been through that many Kennedy's and haven't found any silver yet. The 40%s (1965-1970) seem to be more common than that here. Good luck with your hunt and have fun.

I know what you mean about a nice find that coin is. Around here I used to get silver coins at the bank with about every 3 to 4 rolls. Nowadays with the coin boom so big I can't find any anymore.

Nice find. Bummer its beat up from circulation. At any rate, the silver in it is worth $2.50+ Not a bad turn around for $0.50 ;)
