Ok I been looking a long time for a twenty cent piece that wasn't a slug under the 100 mark, an almost impossible task in the raw, never mind already slabbed. This one went up as a BIN tonight @95... It is MINE now Muhahahahahahahhahahaha {{cough cough gasp choke}} hahaha Ok a couple scratches on the obv, but that's not the side that makes her special now is it? I'm damn happy for the price
I guess these are rare enough that people are less inclined to throw them away (or, dare we say, "cull" them), no matter the damage. I've got one that's so beaten up I don't think it would fit in a type-set slot - it's mashed out in a couple of spots. I'll see if I can find it and post a photo. Good snag, OP!
Finding coins for the “right price” is always the tricky part. I can always find coins I like, but it’s hard finding coins I like at prices I like. Congrats on finding “the one.”
I would love to find one with the "20" counterstamp on it. I've had a couple of shots. I blew it when I was in my twenties when a local dealer had one as a cull for $20. I lost out on one that was in an eBay auction about 10 years ago. There is dealer - collector who has several of them, but he's not selling.
Persistence pays off. I'm in that same boat you were, and would also buy one details under the same criteria as yourself. Outstanding accomplishment.
