Well, I finally got the gumption to join the ANA, 2 yrs for now. I've always said you can't complain about the government unless you vote. And one shouldn't raise sand about deceptive trade practices unless they belong to the organization which can enforce actions against them. So I'm In... Bone
Good for you Bones, I happen to agree with you on this subject. The only thing that bothers me is the words "which can" in conjunction with the enforcing of anything. The problem comes when IF they 'can', why don't they? See what I mean?
As a member myself, this is a very good observation. The worst they can really do is boot somebody out. How many of us would even know if they did? And if they threw out your favorite dealer (or local club), would you leave them because of it? I guess the ANA provides mutual accountability to its members. By and large, those who would be dishonest as a matter of course don't join (I realize, human nature being what it is, that there are exceptions.)
too much hassle?! All I had to do was write "RCW promotion" on the "Sponsored By:" line. It was no hassle at all.
Are you kidding me? This %$#& MacIntosh computer. I had to call them because the electronic application wouldn't take any of my info. The rep said they have to install a patch of some sort... Bummer B
DOH! I'd call them (the ANA) and see if they can fix it, but then again my time isn't all that valuable, either.
If you aew an ANA member, can't you submit coins to NGC for grading without joining the collector society? Its $99 to join the collector society.
If you call NGC(1-800-587-1897) and give them your ANA # they will send you a submission kit with your associate member #.
Thank you, I'll do it tomorrow. I too prefer raw coins but I have a 1934 Texas Commemorative that I want to sell and prefer having it graded.
Use the library, it's one of the best resources the ANA offers. I have always been fond of the tapes of Walter Breen tradernick
