Well now I have it, but just like the rest I got from him, it has been cleaned. Anyway I would like to hear some input if this was a decent purchase for 5dollars, or just a waste of time. She has a cut on her cheek, and a hole in her neck. The eagle has a cut on his right wing at the top, a cut on his tail feathers, and there is more but I hav'nt found them yet.

    May I ask why you've
    been trying for a year
    to purchase it?

    Please advise what you
    see, as a possible error,
    besides the hits/bagmarks.

I really don't understand why you wanted to buy this coin. Please explain.

You know you can go to the bank and ask the tellers they usually have a few for a buck a piece!

With all respect, I see nothing but the usual bumps and gouges of use. Perhaps I just don't see it, but aren't those "cuts" you refer to, nothing but gouged scrapes? the "hole" in the neck kind of looks like a drop of acid has made it and discolored the surrounding metal.

Well I saw on line at coin community when they were showing different varieties of the 2000 dollar that there were varieties that were out there with things like cuts and missing feathers and on her too. When I saw this coin a long time ago I thought it would be worth taking a chance because of the flaws it had and may have more
And maybe the ones it had could even be one that would be registered.

By the way it also has edge lettering and its not supposed to. Does that increase the value of much??

One of the biggest mistakes a new collector makes is to ask, "Did I do good?" after they have made a purchase when they should be asking, "Is this a good buy?" before they make the purchase.

A cut or scratch on a coin, any coin, is just damage. Improper cleaning on a coin, any coin, is just damage. This relegates your coin to being worth nothing much more than face value.

The only two Sac dollars from the year 2000 that are worth a bundle are the "Cheerios Dollar" and those slabbed and signed by Glenna Goodacre, the designer of the coin.

Yes, there are others but they are usually graded specimens in MS68 or better. I've sold dozens of these.

Can you tell me anything about the lettering on the edge? I'm not sure but I think I already heard somewhere that it's a registered error.?

I'm really not sure about the hole in her neck , that's why I wanted people here to give me input, and I think they and you give pretty good info and advice. I do thing the. It on his tail is legit, and the lettering is legit.

So the edge lettering is'nt anything worth getting it for?

Now, that is something I will have to see! If I remember correctly, the Mint didn't start using edge lettering on any small dollar until 2007, and that was a Prez dollar. Edge lettering on the Native American dollar came later.

It has a saying on the edge lettering and I was told it was not supposed to. I am going to research it this evening.

I'd gamble the hole in the neck is the result of somebody mounting the coin in a chuck to add the edge lettering post-mint...

I'm not sure but I think it has E PLURIBUS UNUM on the edge. It also has some stars, and numbers that might be the date.
