Growing up on the east coast, a long time ago, it was always a thrill to find an S coin.

It wasn't my coin just something I plucked off the internet from a Gainesville coin page.
Silver war nickels minted between 1942 and 1945 and are 35% silver.

Oh ok.. sorry. It was a pretty one. I do have some older nickels but no S. Yes I have seen online or here. Of course I would grinning if I found one like that. Thank you.

I have a few S nickels I've pulled from change and they are all about in the same shape as PamR's.

Were 1970 S Jefferson nickels minted for circulation or proof only?

I don't remember the source, but a neighbors parents moved from our neighborhood a few years ago and they were selling some other their things. (They were going to an assisted living facility and didn't have room for much.) There was a box that had some graded war nickels. I though it was a mistake, so I asked their son. He told me everything had to go. Anyway, I bought the "war" nickels for about $100. I was so giddy that I didn't want to look at them until I got home. When I finally got home and looked at them. I had all of the war nickels 1942,43,44,45. Almost all were MS66 except for about 3.
