I picked up the last few today on lunch and Completed my Set!!! This also includes the 2000 Millenium edition and the 2006 W... 1st time I've 100% Completed a set... I know its a small set, only dating back to 86, but I enjoy it and it makes me happy ... :goofer: Now I'll work harder on my 1950 - Current Jefferson Nickel Proof Set
Very nice ! if we buy slabbed coins do we have to Register the number out of the original owners name? even

Howdy Smullen.... Congrats to you!!!!:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: As an American Eagle collector myself, I commend you on such a nice set! Post some pics.... RickieB
No, not really... Well, that depends... The way it works is, If someone gets a coin slabbed, it doesn't really get registered anywhere public other than the Cert Number, the grade and date of cert, not who owns it... If someone adds it to the Registry and then sells it, the propper thing to do is for them to remove it, so the new owner doesn't run into issues adding it to their registry set... However, this doesn't always happen and it is unusuall... From what I've seen, (on NGC's Registry, where I have mine) if you are working on a registry set, and you go to add a coin and its already registered to someone else's Registry set, you can (via e-mail or forum post) request that they remove it and then you can add it... Works pretty simple... They try to contact the previous registrant... If he doesn't reply or replys with some argument, they may ask for proof that you own the coin... I'm sure this could be exploited, but I've not heard of it yet... Like I said, its pretty uncommon (but not unheard of).... At least 85 % of my coins in my few registry sets have came from Ebay with the rest comming from a local coin show or a local coin dealer (Scotsman Coin)... I have not had any issue up to this point with adding NGC or PCGS coins to my sets... One other thing about the different registry sets... You can add PCGS coins to the NGC, but PCGS, will not let you add NGC or any other to their registry... So thats why I started mine there as I have many of each... I'm not trying to start debate on TPGs, I just thought the above was a valid tip to be added to the conversation...
Thanks man!!! I would love to take some pics to show you all and add them to the picture gallerys, however I can not get them to turn out right... Even if the coin has great shine, strike and luster the Pics look Dul and out of focus or the flash whites out the whole coin..... I have a fairly decent Sony Digital CAM, so I blame this on my Skills or lack of, not the CAM.... I may try some again this weekend... I may try some as singles or a whole A.E. Set shot... I need to find something as a good backdrop to take pics of them on...
Smullen, Congratulations! GREAT set of Silver Eagles! I too collect the ASEs, but I don't have enough knowledge to put them together in the "registry" like you have done. I'm new to that kind of "stuff". Great job though! You should be proud! swick
Nice goin' Smul! I am seething with jealousy at your accomplishment. :headbang: I am not even close to completing my three sets. At least I have the expensive ones out of the way. Maybe I can make some headway at the Chicago Int'l Coin Fair next month. Thanks for the inspiration to trudge on. :thumb:
Thanks, thanks guys... Starting and Building a Registry Set is not hard at all... In fact, if I can do it, then I promise that everyone of you can do it.... So long as you have Coins in legit NGC or PCHS Holders... Basic Steps. Go to http://www.collectors-society.com/ On the Top of the left Colum, there is a login/register section... If you don't have a UN and PW, nows the time to get one... It will walk you through registering, much like you did here...Except, you get the choice of a Free Registraion or the 99.00 Registration... For this post and creating a registry Set, we will only be concerned with the free one... So Sign up, and get logged in.. Once logged in, you should see an link to something called the "Controll Panel", right in the middle verticle car, to the right of your username... When you click on that, it'll take you to your "Regisry Set" Control Panel page... There will be several boxes Such as ""My Account, Journals, and lower down, Competitive Sets... There should be a small black rectangle button on the bottom border of that Competitive Sets box, labeled "Add New Set" When you Click on that, it will take you to a new screen with Two Selections +US Coins +World Coins For this example, letc click "US Coins".... That will drop down a huge list of all (or almost all) US Coins By Type (Cent, Nickel, Dime, Dollars, American Eagle & Buffalo Coins, Etc...) Lets Pick Dollars. Then you will get a new Drop Down with a Several Choices... Lets pick Eisenhower Dollars 1971-1978, Proofs. Now you will get a new page, that would be your Set Editor{/B]... This is where you Create a Unique Name for your set SMULLEN'S Ike Proof Set or whatever you want to call it... Then, in the next text box down, you can put in a Description of the set (make it your own up, or find a site with some flashy text about it and copy and paste it in)... Down just a bit Further, you will see (in a Cells/tables in Rows and Columbs) a format like a spreadsheet... Each line is a Coin in the Series... EX. 1973-S Copper-Nickel Clad Next Line 1973-S Silver Clad Next line 1974 -S Copper-Nickel Clad on and on, through the series... In the boxes to the right of each of you have a text Window to add your coins "Sert Number of the Slab" and pick NGC or PCGS... Go though and add all the coins you have in the set... At the bottom, there is a "Save" button. Hit that... It will more or less add it to the database and refresh the page.... To See what viewers would see when checking out your set, hit "Set Listing" at the top of the large Box.... To make further changes to that set, "Set Editor"... Or you can go back to "Control Panel, to monkey around and create new sets or get your signature banners, if you want them... It takes a few minutes to learn your way around, but its really pretty easy.... They've put alot of work into this User interface and the back end... Try it... Let me know if you need anymore help...
I am still working on taking quality pics of my coins as well, but one of the best things you can do is _NOT_ use your flash. Use a lamp (or 2 or 3) behind your camera to provide a steady light. Also, you don't want to be too close to the coin, it is better to be 6-12" away, this lets the light get to the coin without shadows from the camera. Use your camera's zoom to get a bigger picture of the coin. That's the best I can suggest at this point.
What do you base that on?? Wouldn't you think thank it would have been better to put that little tid bit in there than than just tossing in a ""That coin is not part of the set""... All I can say is its in there anyway... Lastly, if you want to create your own sets, where you make the rules, they have a feature called ""Signature Sets"... You go though create the name, the theme, the rules and what coins are part of it...
No Response on why you don't think the 95 W isn't a legitimate part of the set??? I'm still curious... Maybe you've gotta good reason I haven't thought of...
