Saw this advertised on Craig's List today for way too little money so I had to suggest to the seller that she should get herself a RedBook before offering more of these semi-key coins for chump change. She still has other rolls of cents she just got from her deceased grandma and may want help grading them and pricing them. I know what I grade this 1912-S at , but would like to see what others think.

    That's mighty nice of you...

I don't have that great of a track record grading highly circulated cents, but I'll take a shot and say G4.

I give it a VG-8 or a weak F-12. The wheat lines are visible. But there is no separation that can be seen between the cheekbone and the jaw,

    Not a bad looking cent VG10- F12...

I would call it a solid F-12 and maybe F-15.

Thanks to all that graded !

I am in the camp with those who graded in the VG , because there really is alot of wear on the OBV and the wheats on the right hand side of the REV show obvious wear. So I would say it is a solid VG-8 ( I will try to remember that when it is time to upgrade & I sell this one on eBay:rolleyes: )

Just curious then, what would everyone grade this coin as?

    VF-25 or30 .. only because of the history of 25 D&S's...

If it weren't for the wear on the left hand wheat heads and the rim dings around that same area , I would have given that a low VF-20. But because of the obvious wear on that wheat head I have to guess solid F-12.

Sorry Rim's but I have to say VF-20. hA, HA . fooled ya! The obverse is just to well defined to let a little wear on the reverse wheat heads to grade your '25-S to a F-12grade. That's a swell cent. I still think I'm being objective too.

I guess no one else is going to guess the grade and i cannot post another. That coin is PCGS's photograde example for a VF-20. Take a peak http://www.pcgs.com/photograde/#/Lincoln/Grades. I will grant you that there is a little less wear than yours, but it is getting there. Look at PCGS's F-12 coin. Yours appears to me to have less wear that theirs, but probably a little more wear than their F-15.

    Hey Louie >>check these out<<

The woman was so impressed with my forthrightness yesterday that she called me again today and sold me all of the following for $40.00.
    1878 Morgan 8TF VF-20
    1930-S Buffalo Nickel EF-40
    1925-S Wheat VF - EF
    1918-S Wheat EF+
    1927-S Wheat VG
    1911-D Wheat VF-EF
    1928-S Wheat G-4

If you would like to see any of these to see if my grading was close or way off just let me know and I will post some pics or scans.

Some are covered with a weird dirt but the parts of the coins you can see are sharp. I am almost tempted to EEEKKKK clean the 1911-D !

OK , here are the 1st 2 coins. Forgive the old 2x2's they are in , but I didn't want to open them til after I scanned them sufficiently. I will be scanning the Wheat Cents over the next little while.

Well this is a first , I am getting a fatal error when trying to upload the 1st scan:

    Fatal error: Call to a member function fetch_namespaceid() on a non-object in /var/www/html/includes/class_upload.php(382) : eval()'d code on line 5

now that we can upload pictures again ...

ok I finished scanning my $40.00 acquisitions and they reveal flaws I couldn't see before , so I think I may have over graded all of them except the 1930-S Buffalo ( it actually still has a lot of the original mint luster hidden beneith that 2x2 ! )

    1st the Morgan 8TF & 1927-S Wheat:
