Here are a few individual coins from my lost but found box. I am using much of my photo stuff for class material , but had some lesser to use so, here are a few in order as found. Jim 1885 1890 1899 1921 S The lines on the 21-S above look intentional in a way, but poor strike. I don't want to post all the rest, I'll look through them and in time post any exceptional. Jim
I don't see any circulation wear on it, some toning near the bottom and a small thin abrasion on the cheek. The reverse has good luster and in hand has good mirroring. I would have paid a premium for it, but he was dealing the box...I figured there would be good and a few AU to offset. I am taking it slow as I figure there is a reason for finding it now Jim
It is a little shallow , but the raised feathers can be seen with a 10 lens nicely - no wear. Your Dad was always a much better photographer than I could be. Jim I wish now I would have asked the seller more on source. Jim
I was too young to really experience his photography. I see what he has on the website. He put in a lot of work and seemed to enjoy the creative process. I know that some morgan years and mints are stronger strikes than others, but I don't know which. The 1885 Obverse looks sharp and reatively clean to me, but in the picture, the breast seems a little soft. I am not good at reading wear from strike. There is also a mark under "we". How is that in the hand?
If you get the coin at an acute angle to the light, there are a lot of shallow mint polishing scratches that run up to the raised portion , but not onto the surface of the raised portion, the angle has to be right to see them with the 10x. Several of the lines cross each other at that point. Jim
