I am brand-new to this forum (love it, by the way). I was wondering whether there are any forum members in the Gainesville/Ocala area of Florida (where I live) or in the Tampa/St. Pete area (where I work). I am in my 40's and have been away from coins for MANY years. I have quite a few from my teen years and have been picking up a few odds and ends recently on eBay. My main focus has been my WL half collection which I completed at age 14 and have recently been upgrading. I would like to have someone with some experience look at my stuff, help me with grading and advise me on current/future acquisitions. Many thanks!
Hello and welcome to the forum. I live in Orlando and have a coin shop in Kissimmee. I get to Ocala usually for the coin show there. The local coin club hosts a show in Ocala in February, usually at the Yankees Ramada. Try to find some info on the local coin club, I think it's a pretty active one. If you can't, email me or send me a Private message and I'll send you in the right direction Best of luck and let me know if you journey to my part of FL anytime. Nick
Hello. It just so happens that the Ocala Coin Club is quite active. We'd certainly welcome a visit and if you're interested a membership. We have our annual show the first weekend of February at Steinbrenners Ramada Inn at I75 and SR27. It's a great show and well worth the visit. Our meetings are in a slump time as far as presentations so we have a lot of time for trading and we have a nice sized auction at each meeting. Only members can sell. But visitors are welcome to bid. The meetings are at Perkins Restaurant on SR200, just east of the I75 exit, on the 4th and 5th Tuesday of each month. Meetings start at 7pm. Most folks usually arrive between 6 and 6:30 to chat and look at the items for auction. If you'd feel better knowing someone when you come, ask for Art. I'm the President of the club, so I'm always there.
