Latest round of favorites of the year are Syrian Tets. Really wasn't hard to pic any favorites, I only acquired 2 this year. The Geta is my favorite, maybe for the whole year. Not an emperor I ever expected to get in Syrian Tetradrachm form, much less for $60 total. And the Philip is a scarcer tet due to the officina letter in reverse field. Geta (209 - 211 A.D.) I've got this silver Tet of Emperor Caracalla. It's of the second consulship but the Mint is uncertain. However the coin is listed in " Antioch with Laodicea style ". Prieur 1735 C . SGI 2650 v. The reverse has an eagle with a star between legs.
Hey @Mat , how many Tets have you amassed now? Great stuff. Great denomination. Cool that you have a Tet of Geta when he was gunned down! And the Philip I eagle is nice! I have only these 2 Tets from Syria: RI Volusian 251-253 CE AR Tet Antioch mint Eagle - son of Treb Gallus RI Nero AR Tetradrachm Antioch Syria 54-68 CE Regnal Year 8 Eagle Looks like mine is pretty HIP! (sorry, regnal year )
Here's a fairly rare Syrian Tet of Otho from my collection. Beautiful black toning. Could probably benefit from a new photo.
