    Hong Kong, 1000 dollars, 2003

Got this beauty in the mail today... most I ever spent on a single banknote, but it was worth it! Love the dragon on the obverse (he seems in such a good mood, doesn't he? Got to love his attitude!). The scenery of 2003 Hong Kong on the reverse is great too.

Eventually hope to get the 500 note to finish off my set of SCB's 2003 series. But I figured if have to spend a lot on the last two, that I should get this one first lol...

The SCB series has had a different animal from Chinese mythology on the obverse of their notes for quite some time... a nice feauture of their most recent series is the reverse shows a scene of Hong Kong from various time periods:

    $20: 1850
    $50: 1890
    $100: 1930
    $500: 1970
    $1000: 2003

Makes the series as a whole a fun thing to look at.

World note album is getting a bit full... thinking of starting a new album, just for the dragon notes (ones I have in my banknotebank collection as the "Dragon Collection"... I seek banknotes with dragons on them especially!).

Neat note and thanks for sharing. I love the HK notes myself, there is the allure of their having been issued by both banking corporations and government institutions, and the different designs for all of them. The notes have also continued into Chinese rule, which by itself is amazing. Bank of China now issues special HK notes, but SC and HSBC still continue their note issues.
