To whom it may concern, I have in my possession a 2005 Australian $1 coin that doesn't have any side ridges and has been struck three quarters off centre so that part of the coin's image on both sides is missing; there are blank areas on about one quarter of each side. The coin appears to be 2mm wider in circumference than a normal coin and is flatter than the normal coin. Are these types of faults common and are you able to give me an approximate valuation of the coin. It is in a very good condition and obviously has been circulated. Is there anywhere else that I can find out information about this coin? Thanks for your time. Gary Shiell
That is very interesting. Can you try to post any images if possible? Images speak more than what you can possibly describle.
to CoinTalk Gary. I've moved your post to the Error Coins forum, where it is sure to be seen by our members who are most knowledgeable about errors. Pictures of your coin would be very welcome. You might also want to check forum member Mike Diamond's website.
