Fat letters on penny

    The letters in , "in god we trust" seems bigger tha normal. Is this just pmd?

    Looks like PMD to me. Crushed letters.
    2016 - 1963 = 53 years of circulation hits.. look at the date and LIBERTY

    The letters are not perfectly vertical on the z-axis; they're a bit fatter at their base (on the coin) that their highest points. So, they will begin appearing wider as the coin circulates and they wear down. That feature may be in play here as well.
