I'm still in shock. I placed an order for 20 or the 2006 proof sets on March 30, 2006. I recieved a email confermation on April 3rd stating they were shipped on april 3rd. I actually received them on April 3rd at about 10AM. What happened to the poor service of the Mint?

There's a certain member of this forum, who shall remain nameless, :kewl: that would probably tell you it was all my fault  You see some years or so ago I stopped placing orders with the mint. It was rumored, :secret: unjustly so of course, that because of the sudden drop in orders that the mint let a large portion of their staff go. I mean, can you imagine - sheeesh

Then for the next two years, as business from other sources began to pick up, the mint began to fall behind in their orders due to a staff shortage. Luckily however, it appears they have now remedied the problem and deliveries are once again being made on time :eek:hya:

Of course there is absolutely no truth to any of this. Everybody knows that I used to receive my shipments early for only one reason - The Pony Express. Those heroic and dedicated individuals would ride all night to make my deliveries - just because they wanted to do a good job. Contray to popular opinion it had absolutely nothing to do with the dancing girls and coolers of beer

They have their ups and downs. For sets that are in stock, they can be amazingly fast. It's about 50/50.

The speed of delivery is not the problem, the quality of the coins is the problem (spotted Sac dollars and such).

Where have I heard this before?

All I can tell you is that both the horse and rider are a little better off, these days when they don't carry as much weight. Thought you should know that the mint wasn't the only place to loose workers when GDJMSP chose not to order from the mint. We had two gold mines shut down completely and go out of business, all because they didn't know how to strike coins with guys in their longjohns on them.:secret: thought you would want to know.

All my recent purchases from the Mint have been very timely and in great condition. Absolutely no complaint.:thumb:

Oddly enough not only was the delivery fast but I opened all of them. Every coin looked spotless. All were in perfect condition obverse and reverse. All were face up and not even tilted as in the past. All looked like they came from somewhere else except our Mint.
