Well I have just started to list my Farthings on Omnicoin, for those of you who dont understand the old British system a Farthing was 1/4 of 1 penny and was symbolised like this 1/2d 1672 1/4d Farthing Seated Britannia King Charles II I have tried to lighten the image on this first one to bring out the date, it can be seen quite well in hand but not so well when scanned 1700 1/4d Farthing Seated Britannia King William III 1747 1/4d Farthing Seated Britannia King George II 1754 1/4d Farthing Seated Britannia King George II 1773 1/4d Farthing Seated Britannia King George III 1799 1/4d Farthing Soho mint Birmingham Seated Britannia King George III 1806 1/4d Farthing Soho mint Birmingham Seated Britannia King George II
Not realy, I have some Celtic coins that pre date it by some thousand years or so oh and some Greek :thumb:
Have just added quite a few more including a few rather nice ones 1874 1/4d Farthing Heaton mint Birmingham Seated Britannia Queen Victoria 1875 1/4d Farthing Heaton mint Birmingham Seated Britannia Queen Victoria 1876 1/4d Farthing Heaton mint Birmingham Seated Britannia Queen Victoria 1900 1/4d Farthing Holed & gilded Seated Britannia Queen Victoria I think it was possibly worn as a love token but who realy knows
What would you class as old? to my way of thinking if something has been around for over a Hundred years then it is old, but as I did not claim they were old I fail to understand the meaning of your comment. Perhaps you would like to explain it's relavence to the coins in question :thumb:
