This is the logo of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) & this topic is to share our FAO coins.

    What is FAO?

FAO is a specialised agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy. FAO is also a source of knowledge and information, and helps developing countries and countries in transition modernise and improve agriculture, foresty and fisheries practices, ensuring good nutrition and food security for all. Its Latin motto, fiat panis, translates into English as "let there be bread!"...

    About FAO Coins:

In 1968, the F.A.O. started a Money and Medals program to help spread its message of the urgent need to increase food and agricultural production. They encourage governments to use their coinage to promote this important message. In excess of 18 million dollars have been shared by participating countries and used directly in the development of agriculture

List your FAO Coins,it would be nice if you also share photos of the coins u have.:)

I have several FAO issues in 5 and 10 millemes and piastres from Egypt. They came out with several versions in the late 70's. I don't have any pictures but they have interesting designs, most were given pharonic themes.

My Korean 1972 FAO 50 Won coin

Here are my 1972 and 1983 FAO Korean coins.

Oh, and by the way, it is NOT an "oat sprig", as the dumb Krause book says (and everyone repeats this error). Korean people eat RICE, not oats!! It's a RICE STALK for cryin' out loud!
