    The coin is wedged shaped.
    Thick side is 3.3mm thick.
    Thin side is 2.5 mm.
Note variations to the beaded border, size and shape. Various die cracks?

My coin is 0.88 of a gram overweight.

    Fake coin or mint error?
    What do you think?
Im posting these to share what i have been finding and to and try to learn more.
    Many thanks in advance.

I know standards dropped in the uk but really this low..?

This is what is should look like.

The pound has been copied and fakes do exist. 0.8 of a gram over weight alarm bells are ringing.

If by some miracle this was genuine. Is this something worth having appraised?

Looks like a fake to me. The UK 1lbs were counterfeited a lot. You can google info on it.

    Better than 98.5% sure it's a fake.

    Thanks for help.

  8. Something like one in twenty of the old one pound coins are counterfeit. Yours looks like a more obvious example.
