If online sites would monitor, determine, and stop the activity before it starts, it would be a plus in every one's favor.
It's crazy that the Chinese would make a counterfeit of this coin. Although the 1949 is a better date, it's no big deal in circulated condition. It's not worth much more than the "junk silver" price. But the Chinese also made a 1958 Lincoln Cent so go figure.
Anything and everything can be faked,as long as it's bringing in the bills it's fair game to them which is really sad.
Good eye. As for the seller, maybe he is being nice about this. But it's 99% he knows where he got that coin from and he knows it's bad. He got busted and he's just trying to smooth things over. Too many disgraceful sellers on EBay. Who then complain about switches etc. and too often they are protected instead of blackballed from the site. I believe EBay has their main corporate office in the US. They are a party to counterfeiting by allowing these listings, sales and taking commissions on illegal coins. 20 years in federal prison for counterfeiting.
