Fake Flying Eagle 1857 !?

    Hi Folks

    I have just received a Flying Eagle Cent that looks very fake :eek:
    Weight is only 3.7 gm !!
    I post it here just for you expert guys to confirm that and tell me if it is frequent to face fake Flying Eagle cents nowadays...

    Here are the pics :

    It has shiny surfaces with pitting...
    Just wondering what is the origin of this "coin"

    That's an incredibly bad fake. The current crop of forgeries coming out of China are considerably better, and most weigh in at around 4.50-4.55 grams, just shy of the correct weight. I have no idea to the origin of your counterfeit.

    That is something I could have done in shops class! This is not the work of a professional.
