Fake Dollars on eBay

While browsing eBay, I found some EXTREMELY rare coins: 1805, 1806, and 1807 U.S. silver dollars. See #8315974155, 8315974223, 8315974274.

Sadly, this is not the first time I have seen dollars, with these dates, being sold on-line. Be very cautious of coins sold from China, as these are.
I have reported these obvious fakes to eBay, and I would not trust any other coins from this seller, IMHO.

Look out for the correct-date Seated and Trade Dollars from the same source.

I like how they keep the high bidders "ID kept private". Possibly not wanting anybody to contact the highbidder about the coin being fake? Here's a 1805 dollar found in a wall during renovation along with a few trade dollars. Ebay item 831550772

    Hi SCNuss

    Welcome to CoinTalk.

These Chinese Scammers are being chased from one ID to another as fast as they can be reported to Ebay. Ebay seems to have little interest in actively combating these
fakes that are so obvious to some of us. A small group of dedicated individuals
are spending hours of their time reporting these fakes daily. The troubling thing is
that many cannot spot these obvious fakes and bid on them. I doubt that many of these are actually even being shipped.

All three coin sites have been closed by eBay, quick work by them. They seem to have shut down the seller completely, as I can find none of his coins listed now.

Fake coins are alway son ebay...I bet you could find one every time you got on...

I don't look much any more...ebay and the ANA are working on getting some off but I'm sure it will take a long time.

"EBAY" does not close these auctions until they are reported. "EBAY" takes no pro-active approach to removing these auctions. There are no teams of EBAY employees searching through the listings making quick work. It is only through the hard work of individual users taking the time to report these fakes that anything is done at all. I just thought that this needs to be clarified. BTW I am not an Ebay basher, I both buy and sell there. But ebay
does Nothing on their own to combat the fake and scam coin auctions.

I saw an 1804 dollar in AU for 1,500, that has to be fake

The guy said "all sales are finnal" " will not refund coin if 3rd party companys find it unatihintic". The guy said it has been in his family since 1804 and that it never surfaced.

Probably a typo. He meant to say "since 2004". ;)

That used to be true - but then some months ago ebay started up the Coin Community Watch program. These are groups of people who check the auctions, and those reported by others, for auctions with fake coins and rule violations. These folks do this directly for ebay.

Now I'l be the first to admit - they need to do MORE. But they are doing something - at last.

I hope that is true GDJMSP, but to hear the frustration of the regular board posters on ebay (gb1887 and others), it seems the only auctions that get removed are the ones they report. I just learned how to report things
properly, so I will be helping out as well.

That's funny since they weren't made until the 1830's (1836, IIRC).
