Fake 1849 Type 1 Gold Dollar On eBay

    I ran across this fake Type 1 Gold Dollar being sold as genuine on eBay. The BIN price is $220, a significant numismatic premium over the gold content (assuming the coin is 90% gold).

    Note the misshapened stars, mushy details, mushy denticles, and the spike emanating from Liberty's lip.

    LOL Look ate the stars at 9 and 11 o'clock...they look like migrating starfish! Not the best fake gold piece I've seen lately.
