I agree. Sounds fishy to me. If I had a coin of this value I would be sure and have it checked and if real graded.

No feedback from any buyers-,all sales final & all the bidders are new ebay members. VERY FISHY !!

Chuckle, one (real) with my name carved in it and run-over by a train would still fetch $10K. Now this one (if it was real) would bring a $MILLION$

There's just no way a coin genuinely that old would have that much luster left... at the very least it would have toned some.

Though I think it is more likely a replica than a fake (distinction being that I don't think it was made with the intent of having someone believe it to be real). Maybe the seller honestly doesn't know it's not real. Guess it's not that much of a defense to say maybe the seller is an idiot rather than a liar, lol, but guess it's a possibility. Though the 0 feedback buyers seem suspicious.

Out of curiosity I looked up the values of this coin, if genuine... according to the 2006 Red Book it would be worth $18,000 in AG-3... $375,000 in MS-60... in November 1995 a gem BU of this sold at auction for $577,500. If I had this coin, even in low condition, I'd spring to have it authenticated and graded, and if I were inclined to sell it, certaintly wouldn't put it on eBay with no reserve, lol. Again this seller is either a liar or an idiot, take your pick. I guess it's technically only a scam if someone is dumb enough to fall for it.

I'm gonna guess that the high bidder is either a shill or a good guy protecting the innocent/ignorant from this scam with no intention of paying.

Naturally I've received NOTHING back from the seller or EBay concerning the coin.

Usually the word COPY is stamped on the reverse right about where that piece of paper covers the coin. :)

Sold for $1500. Stupid buyer deserves to get burned. This is a complete lack of common sense.

Winning bidder seems to have more mone then brains he also bought this coin!

    This one too

lots of high "grade" coins slabbed by NNC and NTC as well, I don't know if the guy is ignorant, or what, but for that kind of money he should do a little research. He's just throwing his money away!

??? That 1881-O is MS66? Not an expert in grading but, it would seem NTC standards are a bit on the low side. Well not a bit, A LOT. Love how that auction syas that PCGS lists it as being worth $15,000 in MS66... well if it were graded MS66 by PCGS that may be right, lol...

I'm gonna guess they got caught using a shill bidder or 3. The good news is that as soon as they were NARU'd eBay would have sent a letter to all of their recent previous winning bidders notifying them that their transactions with the NARU'd seller are no longer valid and should not be completed.
