How do I go about determining what is a fair price to pay for a coin? I am interested in a 1835 coin from India, but dont know if the price it was listed for (~ $25- $30 USD) is fair, or on the high side. Is there some publication, or a web site I could look at? Am a newbie to coin collecting.. so please be kind!

If you can provide a better description or a pic of the coin - I'm sure we can help you But to try to answer your other question - there are no web sites per se with price guides for world coinage. But if you can find the same coin on ebay - you can check the Realized Prices and see what they sell for.
