Spotted this beautiful set at CSNS last week. I've seen the $50 gold coins at shows before and seen this set assembled in person, but what I found fascinating were the accompanying letters and envelopes. If you're unable to zoom in on the image, the letters say: Set graded (L to R) MS64, MS65, MS66, MS64, MS65
Right?! My first instinct was "this has to be a reproduction" based on how crisp those letters/envelopes look. But according to NGC, those are the real deal
Amazing set, and also amazing that it hasn't been split up for 110 years. It's a little funny that the coins are not arranged to match the letters in the display. I would be anal retentive about that.
HA! I had same thought... least you could do is arrange them in order and make sure coin slabs are oriented straight
Amazing set. The letters, the high grade, the totality ... is stunning. One of these days, I gotta git me one of them fifties ... will never happen.
