Are there any site's that give an exact price for the extra tree minnesotas?Found this one in the pocket change.
Does PCGS or NGC note the extra tree? I don't know much about that variety but I would check Ebay completed auctions for the best idea.
Here is a link to help ID the DDR number. From there, check completed listings on ebay. The prices on these have really gone down in the last year or two. Not much demand I guess. http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/2005PMinnDDRImages.htm
A Google search said between $150-$500. I don't know how accurate that is, they could be selling for $1,000 or they could be selling for 25 cents. I'm sure someone with more knowledge on the topic will pass through this thread and give you some information that you can actually use.
I think Coneca recognizes it as a variety. You would probably want to go to their website to check what the Coneca variety number is.
don't know if this book is right, but there are several varities and in unc condition they all are about $25.i believe they are talking about a range from ms 61 to 65.
The CPG lists 8 separate varieties for the Philly coin and 2 for the Denver coin, but in circulated condition like yours, a postage stamp is worth more than the coin. Chris
what we call the extra tree coins is actually true doubled die coins. the things like the so called extra leaf quarters and the so called speared bison nickels is only die gouge coins. the die gouge coins has caused folks to think the extra tree coins is the same and this drove the prices down on the real doubled die coins. right now is a good time to buy the new doubled dies because the price will only go up on them with age and the price of the die gouge coins have no where to go except down. I am the discover of the extra tree coins. the extra tree is actually part of the original design of the fourth tree to the right of the map ot the Minn. state . The op's coin is one of the DDR #1 coins
I'm wondering how any grading company can not recognise a true doubled die as a variety ? PCGS , ANACS and NGC recognises these and slabs them. I have some slabbed as a EXTRA TREE before they were determined to be a doubled die. this is the same type doubling as the 1984 and 1997 doubled ear cents.
