Is the mint going to extent the 50 State Quarter Program to include Protectorates: Like Grum, Puerto Rico, Midway, D.C.,Iraq, Afghanistan,Packistan. SORRY ABOUT THE LAST THREE. I'am doing laundry so I have been drinking
Hopefully a couple of brewskies and NOT liquid Tide. Era is a much better choice if you go that route.
How about former colonies of USA, Phillipines, Cuba, Nicaragua, Panama Canal Zone, Dominican Republic, and then extend to colonies that could have been... Vietnam...Korean DPR:smile
it's my understanding that congress passes the bills that would require the mint to produce beyond the state quarters. the mint has no say in what bill passes/doesn't pass nor even can they recommend what goes in a bill. have you contacted your local congressman?
We could start the 50 state quarter program again with the designs which didn't make it the first time. And every 10 years thereafter.
Congress passed the bill 6 different times. Each time the Senate failed to act. If your going to contact anyone it should be your state senator.
I hope they do not! There are only 50 states. If they want to do a so called USA possesions that would be ok as long as it is separate from the states. Maybe they could put Noreaga, on the panama coin. Ferdinand Marcos could be on the philippines coin and so on
1-23-07, Bill Passed House by Voice Vote 110th CONGRESS H. R. 392 To provide for a circulating quarter dollar coin program to honor the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the United States Virgin Islands, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and for other purposes. The bill says nothing about being an extension of the State quarter program. Last Action: Jan 24, 2007: Received in the Senate and Read twice and referred to the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.
60 years ago when I took Civics, I was taught that Congress is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. My state senator is in the State Legislature, which has no control over coinage. My state's senators, on the other hand, are in Washington and both of them have known of my opposition to the bills as they went through the House.
Sorry. The point was that your Congressman has already voted on the bill and contacting him would do no good.
yes. Although a senator and a representative are both members of congress their respective titles are Senator and Congressman (Congresswoman)
I can see it now on Puerto Rico's coin. Date admited to the Union: When Hell Freezes Over. In all seriousness, I think their time would be better spent trying to figure out what they are going to do with a few billion dollar coins sitting in vaults. Maybe they could issue a $5 tax refund to every american citizen in dollar coins.
Gitmo isn't a state yet? Bummer :goof: I did read an article 2 or 3 weeks ago there is a segment of the Vermont population that wish to succeed. If so, will VT quarters be recalled for false adertising? lol
hOW ABOUT CROSSED BASEBALL BATS ON THE REVERSE OF THE PUERTO RICO COIN!!! Most of our players seem to come from down that way now!!!
